12th grader Alexis Cooper started tutoring after classes had moved all online. Her family had noticed a troubling pattern of late and missing work, as well as difficulties with the concepts she was being taught in physics and statistics. The switch to online learning coincided with these difficulties getting worse. But Alexis had always struggled with organization, and making sure everything was turned in on time.
Plan of Action:
When she started tutoring, Alexis’s tutor kept a close eye on her assignments, to make sure that she turned everything in. Developing these organizational skills was a large focus of their lessons, especially starting out. As was completing the list of missing assignments that had built up during online classes. Her tutor also helped her with classwork from her physics, statistics, and English classes, ensuring that she understood the concepts she was learning in class.
Results:
After several months of tutoring, Alexis showed great improvement in her organizational skills. With her tutor’s help, she was able to catch up on all her missing assignments, and now frequently turns assignments in on time, with no prompting from her family or tutor. She has even gone back and redone older assignments to improve her grades.
Outlook:
Alexis does still have late assignments from time to time, as she is in the process of turning her new organizational skills into habits. But overall, her dedication and diligence have increased at an impressive rate. She’s been successfully learning and implementing new concepts in her physics and statistics classes. And her grades are improving as a result of all her hard work. As she continues to develop good habits, she will continue to succeed!
